Fusion Building Systems has been named the Winner of the Offsite Construction Awards 2020, Best Use of Steel Technology. The announcement was made at a virtual ceremony held on 22nd September which was celebrated remotely by hundreds of delegates from across the industry.

Fusion won the Award in recognition of its work on the University of Sussex, East Slopes’ Residences project for Main Contractor, Balfour Beatty. With over 2,000 student bedrooms and a total project value of around £150million, it’s one of the single largest, successful offsite construction projects of its kind ever built in the UK.

Commenting on Fusion’s Award win, Director Mike Fairey said: “Sussex has been and continues to be a significant part of our business. The effort and expertise committed by Fusion and Balfour on this project is inspiring, and its sheer scale meant it had the potential right from day one, to demonstrate what could be achieved when our offsite system is placed at the core of an integrated supply chain.

“Although we were watching the Awards remotely, there were cheers across the team when our name was read out. A satisfying result and well-deserved achievement for all involved and I’m pleased the Award judges recognised this project as exemplar – setting a bar for the industry to follow.”

The Offsite Awards recognise excellence across every aspect of the industry from hybrid and modular technology to engineering and installation, ensuring that all aspects of the offsite building process are celebrated.  Over 200 entries were received for this year’s Awards across 21 categories, from companies who are at the forefront of the offsite industry.
